Special registration period opened

From the 27th of September until the 30th of September 2010, a special registration period in the offcial Master in Free Software is opened. The selection of admission has already been done and the results can be checked in the registration online tool.

Introduction to the Master on Free Software

You can get the slides used during the introductory session to the official Master on Free Software which was held on September 10, 2010 at the URJC campus of Fuenlabrada, here.

Available materials from the introductory session (September 2010)

In our video section, there are available the slides used and the presentations made about the introduction, methodology and philosophy, as well as administrative details and the not enrolled students' program for the next official edition of the Master on Free Software.

Beginning of the lessons: 2010/2011 Edition

Lessons will begin on Friday, 10th of September, 2010 at the campus of Fuenlabrada. The classroom will be the 215 of 'aulario 11' at 17:00. You can view the situation of 'aulario 11' in the  virtual tour of the campus of Fuenlabrada.On Thursday, 9th of September, every campus from the URJC will be closed due to the celebration of the opening of the academic year 2010/2011.

Experience: Master's courses for non-enrolled students.

In this edition of the Master, it starts a new experience: we offer participation in certain subjects to some not-enrolled students that will have no cost for those included in the pilot. Our aim on one hand is to give access to some of the teachings to students interested in it, but not enrolled for various reasons and, on the other hand, to experiment with new learning mechanisms based on guided collaboration between students.

Information session: September 3, 2010

On Friday 3 September at 18:00 (EST) until 19:30 (EST) we held a briefing on the 2010/2011 edition of the official Master on Free Software, for which there is a special registration period from the 8th of September to the 22nd of September, 2010.

This event was held at Madrid On Rails, in Vicalvaro (Madrid).

The event was broadcasted on the Internet for those unable to attend and after the final question round, a small snack was held where attendees could talk with teachers and coordinators of the master.

Special regustration period:

After the regular registration deadline, there are still places available for the special period. If you are interested in attending the Master, please contact the organization for an interview or for more information at "master.softwarelibre '@' urjc.es."

The dates for the special registration period are:

  • From September 8th to September 22nd, 2010

If you are interested in attending the Master and because the lessons begin on September 9, contact us so that you can attend the first lessons although you will not formalize your registration  until later this month.

Regular registration deadline:

The regular registration period goes from the 12th of July until 23rd of July 2010.

To make the registration, please go through the documentation and instructions. Within those, the student handbook is of particular relevance. To start the registration process, visit the Main access of Telematic Management.

Second introductory session:

Next Thursday 24th of June from 17:00 (EST) to 18:00 (EST) we will hold a virtual introductory session on the official Master on Free Software. In this session we will answer any questions and may conduct telephone conversations to clarify any issue regarding the Master.

Before the session, it is highly recommended to see the informative videos recorded during the first briefing that was held last May:

In this presentation we gave an introduction about the master, and talked about the registration proccess ant methodology and philosophy of this degree. You may also check out the different videos used duting the presentation.

About the Master:

The Master on Free Software is based on a teaching methodology called "blended learning", which combines the best of the traditional teaching with the best of e-learning. Thus, the attending lessons will be held on the weekend (Friday afternoon and Saturday morning), which one out of three off. In addition, we on-line support backed by staff specifically dedicated to these tasks through forums, email lists, regular meetings on IRC and various on-line activities.

Target public:

This master is intended for:

  • Senior Engineers, from the branch of Telecommunications, Information Technology or Industrial.
  • Engineers, from the branch of Telecommunications, Information Technology or Industrial.
  • Other graduates, assuming the effort to acquire computer skills necessary to achieve the objectives noted in the previous section.
